Balancing Job and Family: PALFINGER Certified as Family-Friendly Employer

30.01.2025

Aligning work and family is one of PALFINGER’s important goals. Being awarded the “berufundfamilie” job and family certificate and the additional certification for “working at home/mobile working” demonstrates PALFINGER’s commitment to a family-friendly company and management culture. The Austrian state “berufundfamilie” seal of approval is awarded on behalf of the Federal Chancellor’s Office.

Flexible working hours, working from home, childcare during holidays, ”Spürnasenecken” in kindergartens, part-time retirement, parental leave, and STEM days – PALFINGER has already been 2|2 implementing a number of measures that enable families to better coordinate their working hours and give them the support they need.

A mission statement for a family-friendly future

The “berufundfamilie” certificate commits PALFINGER to streamlining its existing measures in a structured manner, expanding them strategically, and firmly anchoring them in our company culture. Over the next three years, PALFINGER will expand its offering in defined areas of activity: childcare for under threes, improved information and communication, knowledge development and parental leave management, as well as assistance for parents and others in returning to the workplace. The corresponding measures were developed in workshops with employees from all the company’s Austrian locations involving people from various departments, and result in a well-founded concept for a familyfriendly future.

“We see it as our responsibility to actively support employees at all stages of life and to make it easier for them to manage work and family obligations,” says Maria Koller, CHRO at PALFINGER. “We are particularly interested in helping women return to work and reenter after time away with their family. Together with the many family-friendly programs we already have on offer, we are sending a clear signal for a sustainable and future-focused working environment. Being awarded this certificate confirms we are making good progress.”

Ambitious plans for even more family-friendliness

PALFINGER has identified a particular field of action in the care of young children. There is a shortage of childcare places for children under the age of three, and there are very long waiting lists. “Caring for small children in particular presents families with a major challenge. At the same time, this is the basis for equal professional opportunities for mothers and fathers. That is why we want to focus on this over the next few years,” says Claudia Eigenherr-Tschugmell, Head of Global Health Management & Project Lead at PALFINGER.
