PALFINGER: 47 Talented Young People Start Their Careers

07.09.2023

By training young employees, PALFINGER is taking an important step to counteract the shortage of skilled workers. Education and training are an essential factor, because well-qualified employees form the basis of PALFINGER's success.

September 1st saw 47 young people start their careers at PALFINGER. At the PALFINGER Campus in Lengau, young people from the region – but also from Munich, Ainring and Elsbethen – dived into the world of PALFINGER for the first time. Following its expansion in May, the PALFINGER Campus in Lengau, Upper Austria, brings together the international technology company's global training program. After all, an attractive working environment in line with the Vision & Strategy 2030 is a key factor for PALFINGER's long-term success. This includes a learning culture that focuses on future-driven training and further education opportunities.

Top class training

This year’s start is associated with a PALFINGER premiere: For the first time two apprentices are doing an apprenticeship as event manager. Altogether PALFINGER trains more than 140 apprentices in 17 different technical and commercial job profiles, in Austria and Germany. In addition to a traditional apprenticeship, PALFINGER also offers the Dual Academy. This special program provides the opportunity to obtain an apprenticeship qualification as well as the Austrian high school completion certificate on a tailor-made training program that includes a project abroad. However, this is not the only opportunity to go abroad as part of the training at PALFINGER: apprentices were offered working stays abroad this year in Spain and Portugal, for example. A recently graduated apprentice was also able to expand their skills at Hinz, the most important PALFINGER sales partner in Sweden.

Here to stay

Excellent training, the best possible qualification, opportunities and a variety of attractive career paths within the company, together with exceptional team spirit among all employees — these are the reasons why most apprentices stay for the long term. And there is the PALFINGER job guarantee, which assures apprentices of a job even before they start their apprenticeship. In 2023, all four commercial apprentices and 20 technical apprentices were taken on. This applies across all sectors, because an engineering design apprentice was also taken on at PALFINGER MARINE, for example. “The fact that so many young people start their careers at PALFINGER and in most cases stay for many years shows the high level of satisfaction among our employees,” says Bernhard Eicher, Head of Apprenticeship Training at PALFINGER. “The entire PALFINGER training team is fully committed to supporting the new colleagues. We wish all our apprentices the best of luck and much success during their training!”
