PALFINGER: Digital Masterclass Opens Up New Perspectives

Using the technical knowledge gained during their studies as a team – to develop new solutions: as part of the PALFINGER Digital Masterclass, students work on projects together with experts possessing extensive industry experience. During this exceptional internship, they can not only expand their knowledge, but also implement their own ideas.

Digitalization is already affecting all areas of our lives, including today's working environment. This is even more true for a technology company such as PALFINGER. In order to optimally harness the potential of this development and cover new ground, the company has initiated its own Digital Masterclass as a cross-functional initiative. The Masterclass combines an internship and work on a project with lectures by experts in the areas of software development & architecture, data science/data engineering, cloud computing, quality assurance and business processes. Students with an IT background work in small groups together with experienced professionals on real projects. The result is a set of digital solutions that are essential for the innovative PALFINGER lifting solutions and services of tomorrow.

Successful pilot project

The twelve-week program started at the beginning of March with ten students who were able to secure one of the coveted spots on the Digital Masterclass program in Vienna and Salzburg. The participants had the opportunity to work with the latest technologies and to contribute their own ideas to applications as part of the projects. Ideas gained from presentations and discussions with experts from various fields were immediately put into practice. For the first time, interested students were able to apply in groups and experience an internship together as a team.

The grand finale

At the closing event on May 17, the students presented the results of their work to project teams, team leads and PALFINGER CEO Andreas Klauser in the newly extended PALFINGER World in Lengau. “The PALFINGER Digital Masterclass is an exciting opportunity for students to gain immediate practical experience. It also gives us new perspectives on digital opportunities and challenges and allows us to learn from digital natives,” says Andreas Klauser, who is enthusiastic about the program. “By combining the students’ exciting new approaches with the expertise of both PALFINGER colleagues and external experts, the projects in the Digital Masterclass have the realistic potential of being implemented operationally.”
