PALFINGER: Directly Experience Applied Research

18.05.2022

Put on VR glasses and become a crane operator or explore a 3D twin with a HoloLens. PALFINGER will be offering visitors these and many other exciting insights into the achievements of industrial research at the Long Night of Research (#LNF22) on May 20 in Salzburg.

For its 90th anniversary, PALFINGER will present its R&D activities at the Messezentrum Salzburg from May 16 to 22, 2022 and take the opportunity to participate at the Long Night of Research on May 20, 2022. Visitors can discover, experience and try out PALFINGER’s innovative technology solutions until late in the evening - admission free.

Dive into the world of technology

Whether downtown, on top of mountains or on the freeway, the places to which PALFINGER cranes are deployed are as varied as their tasks. With the VR crane simulator, visitors can become crane operators and control the PALFINGER PK 135.002 TEC7 crane. But that is by far not all. PALFINGER focuses on digitization to bring innovative solutions to the market worldwide. Like STRUCINSPECT, the world’s first hub for digital inspection and infrastructure lifecycle management. Here, drones use multispectral sensor technology to survey bridges to the nearest square millimeter. Using this data, digital twins of the bridges are created, which can then be put through their paces and be checked for structural defects. Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Reality provide the basis for this system supported by structured data during all process steps. Visitors can experience 3D twins themselves using PALFINGER’s holographic visualization tool.

PALFINGER is actively driving forward disruptive innovations with P21st. The team explores new technologies, works together closely with the core organization and external partners, and as a result, promotes ideas that have the potential to change the industry — and the world.

“The Long Night of Research is a valuable platform for demonstrating PALFINGER’s strength for innovation. We are very pleased to introduce our innovative PALFINGER technology solutions to visitors interested in technology, as well as people who are new to technology,” says Andreas Klauser, CEO of PALFINGER AG.
