PALFINGER opens its Doors to Talents of the Future

04.12.2023

On December 2, PALFINGER opened its doors for the fourth time for the Apprenticeship Day. Around 150 people accepted the invitation to the PALFINGER Campus in Lengau, Upper Austria, where they gained a unique insight into PALFINGER as an employer. At the event, they were able to try their hand at welding, constructing and operating cranes for themselves and find out more about 18 technical and commercial careers with a future.

“The shortage of skilled workers is a hot topic at the moment. We are actively doing something about it, especially with our apprenticeship program,” says Bernhard Eicher, Head of Apprenticeship Training at PALFINGER. “We are currently training around 140 young men and women in 18 apprenticeships and next fall there will be another 50 vacancies for talented young people.”

Try things out and get more information during the Apprenticeship Day

At the Apprenticeship Day, 19 information points offered the opportunity to learn more about the technology company and get more information on the wide range of career opportunities. Prospective apprentices were also able to get involved: programming robots and operating cranes was on the agenda as well as trying out milling machines and getting a taste of what an apprenticeship in the commercial sector is like. Visitors were also able to find out about additional opportunities, from an apprenticeship plus high school diploma with the Dual Academy through the new Study & Work apprenticeship program.

Alexander Ecker, currently in his second year of training as a materials technician, provided visitors with first-hand information and tips: “It was absolutely the best decision for me to start my apprenticeship at PALFINGER. I am a materials technician apprentice and I know that all options are open to me after my apprenticeship.” Like a third of his colleagues, he is also doing an apprenticeship with a high school diploma.

Training with a future: PALFUTURE

The PALFINGER tagline for apprenticeships is ”Start your PALFUTURE with us”. Young professionals of the future benefit from practical and varied training in a global organization. Numerous benefits, such as bonuses for outstanding performance and the opportunity to represent the company in international competitions, ensure that they enjoy their time as an apprentice. In addition, the company’s international training program makes it possible to visit PALFINGER locations all over the world, from Spain to China. This has a sustainable result, because after successfully completing their training, nine out of ten apprentices stay with the company to take advantage of the many career opportunities.

A place to learn and grow: the PALFINGER Campus in Lengau

Training is a top priority at PALFINGER - from apprenticeships to management training programs. The PALFINGER Campus in Lengau, which opened this year, plays a special role in this. The state-of-the-art training center not only offers apprentices the best opportunities, but is also open to all employees with a wide range of training courses. In addition, courses for country-specific qualifications are offered at selected locations in Germany, the USA and China.
