PALFINGER: PALfit Health Program Ensures Health and Wellbeing

23.11.2022

The employees’ health is of high importance at PALFINGER. To promote and maintain a healthy lifestyle PALFINGER has been trusting the PALfit health program during the past 20 years. The program, which was developed in-house, has repeatedly been awarded the „Gütesiegel für Betriebliche Gesundheitsförderung“ (BFG) (Seal of Approval for Workplace Health Promotion) in Austria, including the most recent certification in 2021.

The physical, mental and social health of its employees is of great importance for PALFINGER, not only in times of flu and corona. In fact, it is an essential element of the company’s philosophy. Based on this, the PALfit health program was created 20 years ago.

Focusing on employee health — since 2002

The voluntary social benefit for employees started in 2002 with offers for physiotherapy and an annual health check with SIPCAN at the company sites in Austria. Today, it has become a holistic, in-house health system that has been rolled out around the globe. In addition to regional events, global campaigns are also being held in which PALFINGER creates and promotes awareness of fitness and health. But that's not all, in addition to promoting and supporting sporting activities, the program offers ongoing courses in mindfulness, self-management and stress management. In Austria, employees also have the opportunity to obtain a bicycle or an e-bike at a favorable price for a healthy and emission-free journey to work through the PALfit Bike campaign.

Helping to shape the world of work

Ideally, any program promoting the health of employees will involve them directly in its design. With PALfit, they can give feedback on their health at work using the Work Management Index Plus (ABI+) survey on a regular basis. In workshops to evaluate psychological stress, employees are also actively involved in developing measures to improve their health.

Staying healthy together

Through organized health days with a wide range of offers on a variety of topics, as well as producing videos with numerous fitness exercises, information on how to set up an ergonomic workplace or how to lift and carry properly, employees are made aware of the topic. One of PALfit’s priorities is focusing on specific health topics, such as the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders, which are developed and implemented in the "Power Up" project together with occupational medicine and safety specialists as well as physiotherapists. The popularity of PALfit programs is indicated by the global fitness campaign PALfit Active Moments. In October, more than 600 employees clocked up around 670,000 minutes of exercise as part of this campaign.

Excellent health care

The benefits of the wide-ranging and popular offers are obvious: Employees not only reduce stress and performance pressure better, they also maintain their ability to work. Employees also live a positive work attitude, feel healthier, experience stronger social interaction and are more motivated to pay attention to their own health. This goes hand-in-hand with a significantly higher quality of life and well-being into old age. During the most recent survey in 2021, PALfit was awarded the „Gütesiegel für Betriebliche Gesundheitsförderung“ (BGF) (Seal of Approval for Workplace Health Promotion) by the Austrian health insurance fund for all PALFINGER sites in Austria up to 2023.
